1)  Assure Delivery of the Interventions/Strategies:

·         Meet regularly to monitor the delivery of actions and activities identified in the approved action plan.

·         Have a focused review process which encourages timely completion of scheduled activities and offers opportunities to revise components of the plan as needed.

·         Tools:  Action Plan, How Will You Monitor Your Implementation, Monitoring Key Activities, Monitor the Promotion of Action Plan

2)  Facilitate Ongoing Support to the Building/District Staff Members:

·         Provide adequate time for professional development.

·         Check for individual and organizational change.

·         Provide frequent opportunities for teachers to collaborate with peers.

·         Plan for assistance to both new and experienced staff.

·         Assure adequate resources.

·         Tools:  Collaborative Log for Monitoring Implementation of Data

3)  Monitor Teacher Implementation of Professional Development and Learnings:

·         Check on a regular basis for frequency and fidelity of implementation of professional development.

·         Modify or adjust delivery of professional development and/or actions of plan based upon analysis of implementation data.

·         Report progress on a regular basis

·         Celebrate successes.

·         Tools:  How Will You Monitor Your Implementation?  Collaborative Log for Monitoring Implementation Data, Progress Review of Implementation, Progress Review of Professional Development (Northwest AEA), Monitoring Implementation - Example

4)  Provide for Ongoing Formative Assessment of Student Performance:

·         Use formative data on a regular basis to assure increase in student performance.

·         Modify or adjust delivery of actions/activities of action plan based upon analysis of formative data.

·         Report progress on a regular basis.

·         Celebrate successes.

·         Tools: Looking at the Data – Answering the Questions

5)  Direct and Organize Data Collection Relative to Both Implementation and Impact on Student Performance:

·         Follow the evaluation plan within the action plan, including both formative and summative assessments that check implementation of professional development and impact on student learning.

·         Tools:  Analyzing and Reporting Our Data, Looking at the Data – Answering the Questions, Looking at Implementation Data – Example, Initial Study of Implementation Data, Advanced Study of Implementation Data, Westlake Middle School Action Plan, Math Log and Example

6)  Build the Capacity of the District/School for Ongoing School Improvement:

·         Share the plan with building staff, district office, board of education, students, parents, and community.

·         Provide regular updates of progress with action plan.

·         Tools: Guiding Principles for Iowa Support System, Monitor the Promotion of Action Plan, How Will You Monitor Your Implementation?
